The Landscape Wing

One of the best things about exhibiting work is the chance to hold a party under the guise of a "private view". The Landscape Wing is where the party is today! The silhouettes are of actual people cut at some party in my guise as The Roving Artist. I have divided the gallery into four walls for ease of access. We're starting here with the West Wall, scroll down to visit the North Wall, East Wall, and finally the South Wall. You can access other parts of Edobarn through the doors. The pictures all link to a larger version of themselves, just tap them with your mouse to see them.

The landscapes here are all pastel drawings on watercolour paper, and are drawn on a fairly large scale, using a combination of techniques. I tend to apply pastel quite liberally, either directly or using a cloth, and then vigorously remove large areas of it with an eraser. Most of these drawings were completed in one sitting.

My London Docks period dates from 1987 to 1991, the exciting time when the area was being re-built. Many of these pictures were exhibited in the area in 1989, in a show sponsored by the LDDC which all but sold out, and is the reason why many of these works are now unavailable.

Two of the landscapes on the South Wall (below) are from the Oxfordshire/ Berkshire area around my present home in Reading, and date from around 1992-93. The third was done on a silhouette cutting trip to Dubai around the same time. They are my attempt to translate the inspiration of the urban landscapes into a rural setting. Somehow they never quite worked well enough for me, and so I no longer work in this style..
