The Old Car breakers yard at the last bend in the River Lea, just before it joins the Thames in the Docklands. This was still there until the early 1990's or so. It was finally removed to make way for the extension to the Docklands Light Railway. It was about this time that I drew it. The piles of earth and re-inforcements to the opposite bank show were the concrete was about to be poured.
Cranes and gasworks silhouetted against a dull grey London sky... what more could a man ask? I was in heaven!
