The Thames at King's Meadow

An unusual landscape for me. Apart from the lone crane on the opposite bank it's really quite picturesque here.

There are two things which draw me to landscape, one is the process of change, usually brought about by mankind. In this I believe I follow the tradition of many English landscape artists who have always painted a rural, but essentially man-made, landscape. The other is the feeling of quietness, almost of expectancy, that landscpe engenders in me. It's difficult to express, the feeling that somthing is about to happen.

If you visit this site now you'll find that Tesco have built an out-of-town superstore on this spot, so it's all gone now anyway.
